Neurokernel Project

The Neurokernel Project aims to build an open software platform that can scalably leverage the power of multiple GPUs to emulate the entire fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) brain. A major goal of the Project is to enable fly brain models to be scaled up in computational complexity without necessitating their reimplementation.

The Neurokernel Project welcomes contributors from across the research spectrum. There are a number of ways to participate in the project including but not limited to: (i) submitting Requests for Comments, (ii) providing/implementing open-source code, (iii) participating in the modeling and development discussions, (iv) exploring/evaluating the capabilities of the Neurokernel, (v) suggesting extensions to available fly brain circuits, and (vi) proposing novel fly brain circuits and architectures to code builders.
