Fruit Fly Brain Observatory
We are writing to advertise the availability of project opportunities in the Bionet Lab. The positions are for the Summer 2018 semester starting in Mid May or Early June 2018 (an extension into Fall semester is possible). You will be working on the Fruit Fly Brain Observatory (FFBO) open-source platform. This exciting project is a result of an international collaboration.
The positions will involve designing a brand new front-end based on state-of-the-art computational environment for studying the function of fruit fly brain circuits. You will be responsible for creating a range of widgets/extensions, and developing APIs for communicating data and commands between the widgets and the backend. You will also be exposed to the FFBO backend and acquire knowledge in neural circuit design and program execution. You will work closely with members of the Bionet group for developing effective demos and ensure positive outcome of the project. The project is offered as a course of 3.0+ credits (such as E6002 - Advanced Projects, or E4998 - Intermediate Projects).
- Knowledge of TypeScript is a plus.
- Exposure to application layer protocol design, full-stack development or asynchronous programming is preferred.
- Exposure to neuroscience/biology not required but is a plus.
